One beautiful thing about not owning a TV is that it frees up time for better things - like reading and meditating on God’s Word. I’ve been reflecting on Luke 8 since yesterday, specifically the Parable of the Sower. Verse 15 says:
“But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.” — Luke 8:15 NIV
And in the New living translation:
“And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.” — Luke 8:15 NLT
From this I have learned: If I want to be the good soil, and I do, I must be honest, with a noble and good heart. I can’t just hear God’s Word. I must actively listen to it, retain it, and cling to it. Then, and only then, by patiently persevering through life’s trials, will I produce a huge harvest for the Lord.
