Firearms training for our youth was once considered SOP in the United States. Our very constitution promotes the idea of a civilian militia. In fact, we created entire organizations to ensure that the United States would always be a nation of rifleman.
The driving force behind the creation of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) in 1903 was to train young people in the use of arms. The NRA was created to promote rifle marksmanship among Americans following the Civil War. When I was in high school in the 1970s the ROTC students regularly trained with rifles and many took their rifles home with them.
Americans were once strong. We have become weak. Poland is setting an example for us - reminding us of what use to be standard normal practice in our country. We should take note and become strong again.
