President Abraham Lincoln, in his Gettysburg Address, memorialized those who died there. He expressed his hope “that these dead shall not have died in vain– that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”
Unfortunately, it appears that what President Lincoln hoped for is fading away - that government of the people, by the people, for the people, is perishing. In fact, it is being brutally murdered before our eyes.
